Salary: Volunteer Position

Starting date: As soon as possible

Duration: Minimum time period of 6 months


As our organisation continues to expand and grow, HRLP is seeking to recruit a remote Volunteer Fundraiser to help us cover our legal and project expenses.


The candidate for this role must be able to commit 3-8 hours per week to support our Fundraising efforts in close collaboration with our Project Manager.


Organisational Context


The Human Rights Legal Project (HRLP) works to defend the dignity and fundamental rights of displaced people within the European Union, and at its borders, by providing legal assistance to individuals and affected communities, and by pursuing strategic action to hold responsible authorities and institutions to account.


HRLP was founded as a joint initiative of individual humanitarian workers in 2020, the primary intention being to focus on litigation and representation in cases of alleged human rights violations on behalf of asylum-seekers and refugees within the Greek asylum process, and the defence of people criminalised whilst migrating. Such cases may include, but are not limited to, denial of access to essential health care services, unlawful incarceration or with inadequate facilities, non-access to fair trial and police (or any public authority) brutality and misconduct, and cases of sexual abuse and violence.


Responsibilities


The volunteer will work remotely in close collaboration with, and under the supervision of, our Project Manager who is based in Vathy, Samos. Primary tasks will include, but are not limited to:


  • Developing fundraising materials, including presentations, flyers, outreach material, etc;

  • Developing a fundraising campaign, including goals, message and content;

  • Developing concepts for fundraising events;

  • Supporting volunteers organizing fundraising and/or awareness events;

  • Maintaining a fundraising database and generate reports on fundraising progress and outcomes;

  • Depending on previous experience; research, outreach and applying for relevant grants, funding programs, and sponsorships;


Essential Qualifications and Experience


  • Able to commit for (at least) 6 months;

  • Interest in the humanitarian and/or human rights sector, especially migration issues;

  • Ability to work independently, proactively and collaborate effectively within a team;

  • Strong writing skills in English

  • Strong research and analytical skills;

  • Good organizational & time management;


Desirable Qualifications and Experience


  • (Under-)graduate degree in a relevant field of study;

  • Previous experience in similar roles;

  • Strong writing skills in German or French
